Did anyone catch this on Sky Arts 1 last night? The series is about people going back to their musical first love, and then doing some sort of public performance after 3 sessions with a professional mentor - sort of like a speeded-up version of Pop Star to Opera Star. Last night's episode featured Sophie Winkleman ( half-sister of Claudia) who wanted to go back to singing. Her mentor's choice of 'Quando m'en vo', for a totally untrained voice, was something of a tall order. Best bit was the extra session she somehow wangled with Renee Fleming!

(The first episode featured Sue Perkins playing the slow movement from the Pathetique at the Cheltenham Festival! And last week Alastair Campbell played the bagpipes.)

Anyway, would be interested to hear the views of anyone who caught this programme. Just noticed it's repeated today in about 5 mins - 2.30 - 3.30!

Ive missed this, I guess its a bit like a BBC series a year or so ago when various celebrities polished up their basic musical skills, to do a performance. I recall Robert Winston playing clarinet, cant remember who the others were.

We watched it, and enjoyed the "hints and tips" given by the professionals. Thought Sophie was terribly brave to perform with a very short period to learn the piece, and on the night, perhaps the nerves played a little part. Some of the notes were not as rounded as they could have been. Nice sound overall.
