Haven't they always been green?
By the way, it depends on the instrument what years the syllabus will run on.. the next syllabus for Woodwind and Brass will be the 2006&2007 one, which runs from 2006-mid 2008

Unlike Davidmusic thought, the colours usually change when the pieces change. 2001-2002 were red and 1999-2000 were blue.

Personally I wouldn't care what colour it is. Then again, I don't feel foolish that often whatever happens... I'm a drama and music guy, and so everyone thinks I'm gay anyway
I would suggest that anyone under the age of 20 wouldn't be that happy about it though!

I don't know what colour it's gonna be but i really hope it's
PINK
I love pink!!!
they should have 2. pink for you girls and blue for us lads. more interested in whats inside tho! you could always cover it if you didn't like the colour
when do they come out anyway? if they are for exams starting in 2005, people will want to get them soon so they can prepare?

I definitely agree with hot pink!! It would be so cool if they printed the 2005-2006 book in highlighter green or highlighter yellow!! Turquoise maybe?

Hot pink!! Wow!! I would really love that!
My friend has a bright blue violin, seems like bright and colourful music accesories are definitely in!! (Paperchase sell see thru pink, purple and blue recorders with glittery bits – by the way)
However, don't think the pink would go down too well with my purist music teach!

I won't ruin the debate by telling you all what colour the new piano exam pieces will be. I can tell you, though, that at least one of you will be happy!

Keep a look out. We'll be beginning to advertise them very shortly.
Both the Selected Piano Exam Pieces 2005-6 and Selected Violin Exam Pieces 2005-7 will be published on 8th July this year and should be available from all good music shops from that date.

We had pink before....I'm sure.....well I think I'm sure
It was horrible! And the boys looked daft coming into lessons with it.
I reckon it's going to be turquoise. Now, that I can live with.

Davidmusic.
I'm a piano, choir and recorder teacher (so I suppose I shouldn't be posting on this forum, but never mind). You may be pleased to know that in the past couple of years I've had a real increase in the number of boys taking up music. I now have more boys and men that girls and ladies in my teaching practice.
My top recorder group equals out...50% boys and my best piano players at the moment happen to be the boys. I hope the trend continues.

Okay, it's time to spoil the fun: the books are royal blue (they're pictured in the new issue of libretto, which isn't on the website yet) but aren't quite the same as the ones that were blue before.

I haven't had my Libretto yet. Does it list the new pieces, or just give you a tantalizing glimpse of the cover?

May 14 2004, 02:25 PM
It does list the new grade 8 piano syllabus but no other grades (and no violin pieces as far as I recall); I don't have it to hand now so I can't tell you what they are... I'm sure yours will be in the post; it only arrived this morning.

It's the Grade 8 I want, as I'm taking Grade 7 this term - the day before the new pieces are published! I will now be anxiously awaiting the post tomorrow, although I'll probably only have a fraction of the pieces anyway.

Actually it's not really royal blue... it's purple. The colours doesn't really match in the printing. (If you have the advertisement card on the piano exam pieces, you will find out that it is purple).

Damn, I was hoping for hot pink!
I can't wait for the new pieces to come out, since I'm doing my piano grade 3 in the term coming up and my violin (grade 2) and viola (grade 2 or 3, I'm bored of my grade 2 pieces, so much more easier than violin) at Christmas and I want to start preparing for my grade 5 in everything as soon as possible!

It's a sign! I really ought to get it together to do some piano grades and with purple books *looks around my room at all my purple stuff* how could I resist? The new books for 2005-2006 are good in terms of setting myself a time scale as well, it all fits together nicely!

Oops, sorry about that: I nearly described it as purpley-blue: that's what it looked like in the magazine but I though royal-blue sounded more technically correct: although perhaps wasn't as accurate
