Yes, it's frustrating waiting for results, but music exams aren't as time-critical as A level results and rarely have anything life-changing hanging on them....

Team Doo:

Grade 4 theory - pass
Grade 7 piano - distinction

Well done team Doo! yay.gif

It is frustrating, but much easier in the holidays when you don't have to see little expectant faces each lesson!

I've been pretty lucky with results never taking more than 2 weeks in the last few years. I think I was due a bit of a wait!

Good Luck everyone still waiting - here's hoping...

Has anyone had any results through from week 5?

12 results in from week 4 and just waiting the last one which was in week 5 before starting on the next terms lot!!!!
lavraiemusicienne
My results from week 5 are online, no email or letter about them yet though.

G2 merit - really pleased. His sight-reading has not been good at all (I'm actually annoyed he got 19 in the exam, I was wanting him to do poorer in that and learn his lesson!) but overall he did well.
G5 pass - a little disappointed. She's done really well considering she's only 12 and only did her G4 summer last year. It was her decision to enter this time round, we considered waiting until the summer and probably getting a better mark but she gets bored easily and has a lot going on in June. I say I'm disappointed, I'm over the moon that she's done so well for her age and most of her marks were excellent but I'm gutted she only got 20 for one of her pieces - miniature in Dm. I'm guessing it must have been her personal interpretation the examiner didn't like because I thought she played it beautifully, as did her mum (also musician) and her teacher at school. She'll be gutted about that one too unfortunately.

Another day without any results...anyone else still waiting?

I just don't get how it can take so long? With the cost of the exam so high, couldn't they use some of that money to employ more staff for a few weeks?!

I know how you feel - waiting for results from the 26th. Not expecting great results. I had the exams at home so got to speak to the examiner at lunch - just got the feeling things hadn't gone well for s couple of pupils. I just want to be put out of my agony asap!

We're waiting for results from 29th - I agree about being able to check too often. I'm making a rule tomorrow that I only check twice (well, maybe 3 times). biggrin.gif

Yes also waiting for the 26th. Frustrating but mine have been pretty quick of late so I suppose I was due a bit of a wait. Good to know so many others are still waiting - proves that it's probably them just being a bit slower than sometimes rather than anything going wrong. Here's to us all getting some good news any day now!

I'm still waiting for the 22nd - so around the same time as you guys!

It'll be time to enter the next lot soon, so lets hope we have the results before then....!! tongue.gif

I'm also waiting for one result from 28th. I was really hoping it would come before I go away tomorrow for 10 days. My pupil, who took Grade 6 piano, seemed to think it had all gone okay, except for the aural tests, which she said were 'a disaster'. I'm just hoping that she's passed. I think it's so nerve racking with the higher grades - I can't remember feeling this apprehensive for ages.

Arrived back home last night to find that my Grade 6 girl got 127, with great marks for all 3 pieces and good marks on the other tests - she even passed the aural section she thought was a disaster. Very happy for her!
vicki1433
Mine from 29th has just come online.

Hope you don't have to wait long for others!
jm-hamilton
One merit and one pass at Grade 1 - the pass pupil actually failed two of her pieces (she had told me she'd had to start one of them again and it hadn't gone well), but made up for it by getting full marks in the aural.

No news yet. I've restrained myself and have only looked twice so far. Somehow I imagined that by restricting my viewing, it would make it more likely that the results would appear!! rolleyes.gif

ahh!! So glad I just rang up....was still waiting for 22nd, there was a query as examiner wrote wrong name on mark sheet, and they are waiting for it to be redone.

They were able to post mark online though....

grade 1 merit, woop.

Now just waiting for 9 more from 28th and 31st which they said they haven't started yet so I would imagine I'll have to wait until next week now

Very helpful and nice abrsm person!

My results have come in:

Grade 4 - 132
Grade 5 - 115
Grade 7 - 118

The student who got a distinction got 30 for one of their pieces so I'm very pleased for them. Nerves seemed to set in for my grade 5 student as they failed the aural test (other than the last part) and scales section even though they'd had no problems with the aural in lessons, and had prepared the scales pretty well. I'm still very happy for the result though as it was their first exam in quite a few years. I'm also very glad my grade 7 student got through as preparations had slackened up as we approached the exam.

No. I don't think you're imagining things - I'm sure I saw that happen too. I've already had one pupil pester his mum so much she had to send me an email.

It's unfortunate that there were 2 bank holidays in between. For various reasons, I'm finding the wait interminable this time. sad.gif

Exam session was on the 31st, with a couple of really borderline candidates - apparently, it could be Friday before I hear anything. ph34r.gif

My pupils' exams were on 26th. I rang the Board earlier today and was not impressed with the answer I was given i.e. very busy, lots of candidates, policy of up to 4 weeks etc etc. I've been entering pupils for at least 25 years and never had to wait this long.

I really think that with the fees they charge, they could do better than this.

Grumpy!
twinklefingers
Yeah, I think the wait this time is so much longer and the anxiety just builds up! That's why it feels so much worse than before.

I'm still waiting for the 28th and 31st but I'm not holding much hope for getting them before I see the children for their lessons....! Such a shame, as it's nice to start the term with discussion of result and move on to new repertoire!

I hope you guys start to get some results tomorrow.

Hopefully it'll be worth the wait for us all smile.gif

Now, the question is, should we delay the decision on trumpet purchase BEFORE or AFTER the result????

I just received my final results from the 31st of March today.

1 Pass
4 Merits
4 Distinctions

I changed my teaching methods this term and I believe the consistent results were achieved by ensuring all my pupils had the relevant scale and sight reading book. This way all scales were learnt fluently and sight reading was tackled weekly. I would set 2 or 3 sight reading exercises to be learnt as completed pieces with dynamics etc. Most managed to work through at least 30 of the set studies for before the exam. These higher marks in the scales and sight reading definitely top up an average pass into a higher grade.
twinklefingers
Congratualtions! I've really focussed on aurals and sightreading this term too - so hopefully my results will be as good as yours....in fact, i'd like exactly what you have please...are you sure they're not my results? (I'm waiting for 9 too) tongue.gif

Does anyone know how they process the results, as it doesn't seem to be in date order? I think I might cry if they don't come tomorrow!

It's more or less date order, but certain outside influences do come into play : if someone complains about an individual exam, for example, it will often hold up all that exam centre's session's results on the day the complained-about exam took place...

STILL waiting for results from 26th. Unbelievably slow, and not very professional. They seem unable to explain why it's taking longer this time than ever before.
