QUOTE(violincjj @ Mar 14 2012, 07:40 PM)

I have a Gd 7 violin 134 and a Gd 2 violin 102 and I am most thrilled about the 102! The Gd 7 is incredibly talented and hard working and deserved her great mark but the Gd 2 is a kid who loves his violin and has almost insurmountable learning difficulties. He has slogged away for a very long time and insisted he wanted to do the exam, we timed it so he could do the old pieces with the easier scales that came in for 2012. On the day he played OK but totally lost it in the scales, he just cannot store all the patterns in his head. Sight reading and aural went out of the window too although he can do them when he is calm. The fact that he loves his instrument and is determined to play it even though his school friends think it uncool is wonderful to me and counts more than any marks.
Great news! When did they do their exams?

Congratulations to everyone on lots of good results so far.
I'm now on the waiting bench for my three pupils who did exams this session - all at different venues with the last one this morning doing AB who came out with positive comments apart from fluffing the first scale. I'm rather anxious about my two TG ones but hope to get my first TG one from 12th March very soon and the second one, which I'm most worried about, around the end of the week - otherwise I'll be biting my nails!

My pupil who did Grade 3 piano last Saturday got a distinction.

She was the one I was most anxious about because she only really knuckled down to working hard in the last 3 weeks leading up to the exam, particularly scales and the exercises (TG). She was really nervous on the day too. I did expect her to pass and I thought if everything went well, she might get a merit. Now I'm questioning whether my assessment was too harsh or whether the examiner was quite generous! Anyway, I'm hugely relieved and now we can look at some fun, new repertoire for the summer term!

Just peeked online for results and my practical one's aren't there yet, which is no surprise as they only took their exams last Wednesday (yes I know I'm impatient!)
However!
Theory exam results have appeared on-line. One Grade 2 with distinction and her younger sister took Grade 1 and got a merit.
Really pleased for both of them as they work so hard at all their music.
Off you go to find your results then! Enjoy!

Mine only took their exam yesterday - both Grade 1. I don't expect either of them to do brilliantly but just a pass will do. One said she messed up her scales, the other said something went wrong in all three pieces and she had to restart one of them. Hope scales, sight reading and aural (usually quite reasonble) will make up for not so good pieces.

Well, a
very generous examiner today (TG) so I ended up with passes for my Grade 4 and very, very dodgy Grade 6, and merits for my Grade 5, other Grade 6 and Grade 5 Jazz (all flute exams). So I'm pleased for them, but a bit sad for another Grade 6 of mine who took her exam a fortnight ago at a different centre and just scraped through - she would have done far better with today's examiner.
Still, they were all hard workers who deserved their good results for the effort they put in, so maybe I should stop carping and feel pleased for them.
