Have just discovered Kuhlau .... yes, yes I know! laugh.gif I'm playing Sonata Op. 60 No. 2 as of today and absolutely loving it smile.gif

Looks like it was worth buying an old TG Grade 7 book out of local music shop for ?1, after all, seen as I've discovered a composer whom I want to play much more of his music!

I once had a disagreement with another forumite which dragged on a bit, about Kuhlau..I think quite highly of him, and...the other person, a piano tutor, emphatically did'nt. Kuhlau it is sometimes said, is useful for students who are not yet ready for Beethoven, and Ludvig himself was an admirer of his music. His works for flute and piano are really nice too.

I've discovered, in the depths of our music cabinet, an ancient Victorian-looking C. F .Peters edition of Kuhlau Sonatinas: Opus 20, 55 and 59. Very pleasant playing.

I think Kuhlau's music is seriously underrated, and am looking forward to getting to know it better:-)
