I have a pupil who is approaching grade one level and has asked to try some boogie woogie music. We've done some improvisation for a bit of fun in the lesson, but now he's asking for a book to play from.
Any recommendations please?
Thanks

I don't have a book of 'all' Boogie pieces, although I have a couple which contain some.
You don't say how old your student is: if an adult, the format of these might appear a bit too young. Anyway -
Martha Mier Jazz Rags and Blues book 1 has some Boogie - ish pieces. Also -
Oxford Piano Time jazz book one.
Finger Jogging Boogie (Stephen Duro) published AB
Might be worth exploring.

The Joy of Boogie and Blues (I can never say it!) book 1 systematically introduces the boogie elements, but it progresses quite fast past the grade 1 level

Thank you very much Maggie and Linda, I guess an age would have helped..sorry! He's eleven in June, and doesn't want anything "childish" (his word not mine! )
I'll take a look at those on your list, Maggie.

I second Linda's suggestion of The Joy of Boogie and Blues - it's perfect for your 11 year old student.
