I could use some serious help here gals. I'm getting married in a registry office on Wednesday and just don't know what to wear. It is a small affair - only 7 guests- so I don't want a wedding gown and I'm not really a "formal" sort of person anyway. I'm also not in the first flush of youth (being 53 - horror of horrors) and I have very ample boobs, bottom and tum so suit-type clothes make me look too matronly. (Think Hattie Jacques and you'll get the right idea.) Any help gratefully received as I am now in a panic.

Thanks.

This shape would be flattering but in a different colour.

Would you be comfortable in a dress? Sounds like you need something that is cinched in under the bust - that style flatters curves. smile.gif Depending on how you feel about your arms, either a capped sleeve or 3 quarter length sleeve would probably be most flattering.

How about something like this? http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores...e~Women~Dresses The print might not be to your taste or colouring but it gives an idea of shape. If you did like that print, you could team it with purple accessories and shoes to keep it more 'upbeat'.

Hope this helps and I'm not way off the mark!

If you're getting married on Wednesday (so exciting! Congratulations party2.gif ) then time is of the essence.
I would advise you get yourself down to your local Debenhams or similar non threatening department store and demand a personal shopper. I think the styles Floss and FoW have suggested would both be flattering (I'm heavy bosomed myself and like a wraparound-looking style so long as I can trust it to stay securely wrapped.) In a department store you can try on various options and, even more importantly, make sure you can get attractive and comfortable underwear to go with them.

And remember - presumably he'd marry you in a sack wub.gif

Congratulations! party1.gif

How about:

that sort of thing - I've got one of these and find them useful for skimming over the curves, although I don't have particularly ample boobs. biggrin.gif

If you have a Bravissimo store near you, they do clothes now under the 'Pepperberry' label. These are designed for the amply-boobed and I reckon there would be something to suit in there. Decently tailored jackets that fit at bust and waist, for example biggrin.gif

Congratulations! Best of luck with finding something you look great and feel confident in! Some great ideas here, as always biggrin.gif

I got married in the red suit I wore to carry my grandmother's coffin. I do NOT agree that a suit has to be matronly!

Striking black & white up to size 20

Of course, I would want the ensemble in shocking pink...

Congratulations!

As you don't like formal, how about a tunic style top over either leggings or trousers? There are so many designs out there at the moment and they can feel casual while looking smart, especially if you can wear heels.

Congratulations! Have you tried Phase Eight? Three generations of us wear Phase Eight in my family - so something for all ages - they have lovely dresses in my opinion.

Did you get one? Good luck for tomorrow!

Hello,

This is just to say many thanks for all the help with the dress. The advice was all really useful and I managed to get an outfit which looked (and felt) good. The day went off really well.

Thanks.
