Does anybody know where I can buy Mandolin strings and can advise on which make to buy please?

Also needed is a new Mandolin bridge.

It's for Dad's new project - a battered Greek Mandolin he has purchased in a junk shop rolleyes.gif

(He already has one so does play a bit).

Also does anybody speak/read Greek? It has a Greek label that we'd like to translate laugh.gif

Try hobgoblin dot com for the strings.

Have you got any trad/folk bands near you? If so, go along to a gig and how about asking the mandolin player if there is anywhere or anyone local?
Is it a flatback or a roundback? The roundbacks can have more to restore owing to the way they are made. Hope you and your dad have lots of fun with it!

Although not very local to you, do have a look at www.mandolinluthier.com (disclaimer - not a personal plug or ad, just someone I've found helpful in the past)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions biggrin.gif I'll look up all those websites.

I have a funny feeling Dad wants to do up the second mandolin for me to play!!!

Go for it!

I love my mandolin, however it completely fuses my brain as although the left hand matches the violin, often as not 'picking' seems to end up the opposite way round to bowing. Aaargh!
