You'll be fine. Keep practising them. You have 1/2 term next week, so in theory, you'll have more time and be more chilled out smile.gif

tamsin
<has a coughing fit over the keyboard and decides she really can't afford to keep strngling Natalie, in case she gets kicked off for violence>

If you fail, I promiser to consume a large quanity of peas. I loathe peas...or even better... pea soup!

(Don't fail now Natalie will you.. mellow.gif )
nicki_flute
Tamsin, that is the same as me eating a whole load of fruit. I hate fruit, and my friends have made me eat fruit for Lent (2 pieces a day!!!) ERGH!

Of course you will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have fun with arpeggios, learn all the Keys ! tongue.gif
tamsin
OK, well if Natalie failes, (and you decide you will endure fruit like I will peas) them we'll both get very healthy... NOT Natlie, that that gives you a reason to fail. smile.gif
Keys
I have to say that I like sweetcorn. Its amazing, I mean sweet vegetables!
Although I have heard you don't digest it. laugh.gif

Tamsin, I too hate peas. Ewwwww

I know you can't read it but I like colours.
isabelsmells
You won't fail Nat, and if you do there is NO WAY that I would eat peas ph34r.gif

Your exam is the day before I go to Spain!
nicki_flute
Maybe if you fail, I should eat 5 portions of fruit a day. Now, I don't know whether I could manage that!!!
Keys
Does anyone out there manage to eat 5 portions a day?

Calling all ye healthy people!
Lucia
not five portions of fruit. I think fruit is boring, although summer type fruits aren't too bad. I prefer veggies. biggrin.gif

And you will pass Nat.
AnotherPianist
Well I'm not promising to eat peas for any event, no matter how improbable!

Aren't the arpeggios just the ones that you passed grade 5 doing only in the last exam period just more octaves? You can do them and you have done them. It does sound more daunting in all the keys but a lot of them are the same, if you split them into ones that are the same and only practice one from each pattern for a while to get them going and then learn the rest afterwards (you'll actually find that you can do them already just start on a different note). Maybe splitting up what you have to learn into fewer problems will help you mentally overcome what seems like a bigger hurdle than it really is: you always seem to be under a big pile of achieving a huge task but if you break it down into smaller chunks (oh, no I'm starting to sound like BBC bitesize now wink.gif) you'll find it a lot easier to practically deal with. Good luck, tell yourself you can and you will....
saxlover
the examiner in grade 5 commented on my arpeggios being bad! not in that exact wording, but he said i made slips in them sad.gif
uberzoldat
Somehow an extra 2 octaves at a much faster speed seems to make a huge difference with arpeggios! What do you think?

I wouldn't worry about it too much Nat, I completely forgot some arpeggios in my last piano exam, and had to have several attempts to get it right but the rest of the scales were ok, so overall the score in the scales section was still quite good (suprisingly) biggrin.gif

If you make huge mistakes you can still do well, I think its highly unlikely you will fail just on arpeggios as long as you're ok with your pieces smile.gif
saxlover
in a calm situation my pieces are ok, but put me in front of someone haha i mess everything up
uberzoldat
My piano teacher said once to imagine the examiner is sitting on the toilet, or something to that effect............that help? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
saxlover
nothin helps, im just awful in front of people in an exam situation rolleyes.gif
uberzoldat
well i don't know if this has any relevance, but all other exams i have had, i've gone in there nervous, and worrying before it and everything, but the last one i took i was determined not to be nervous at all, and I went in and did it, and made more of a mess of it then I had done any other. dry.gif

So in a way, I think that the nerves help somehow and you can use the adrenaline to your advantage (or am I just spouting rubbish now? blink.gif )
saxlover
you talk sense lol!! i cant use the adrenaline to my advantage, it just doesn't work for me! if one thing goes wrong then everything goes wrong. basically if i mess up my 1st piece then its guaranteed the whole exam will be dreadful, so i might as well walk out then
uberzoldat
do you usually do your pieces or scales first?
saxlover
scales usually
Amber
Wot?

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
uberzoldat
anyhow, i reckon anyone who's professional at Grand Woohoo, should be able to walk all over those arpeggios!

However did you get so many grades if you cant play in front of people!!!! biggrin.gif

uberzoldat
I'm sure thats not true. maybe theres a loophole in the rules somewhere.......
saxlover
lol. ah well, if i fail, i fail, nothin i can do about it. i'll just have to get used to it
uberzoldat
I guess so.. good luck anyway. hope you pass whatever happens smile.gif
