Ooooh, nice!!! tongue.gif
Tenor Viol
That's a very nice looking case. Shame that cello cases have to be so functional.

I do have a nice Selmer case for my Sax. Sadly, I don't have a Selmer sax to put inside the case tongue.gif Anyone giving away a nice Mark VI alto? laugh.gif
Hubicka
Thanks, it looks even nicer in real life wub.gif
lottie
Oh WOW!!!!! That looks absolutely fabulous party2.gif woot.gif

I'm quite jealous laugh.gif ( in a nice way of course wink.gif party1.gif )

I would LOVE a Musafia case for Hannah so am watching the 'bargain' page... but they never have viola ones in the sale sad.gif
louloubelle
The blue with silk looks beatiful----congratulations !

I ordered a Musafia case the other day (but sadly no silk---should I change my mind ?) and I should get it in a few months time.

I am afraid I am not treating my present old, and much loved instrument, (not valuable) but the new case is for the new fiddle I am having made by our local violin maker---which I will not get till next year !
I expected my violin teacher, and one of the local fiddle teachers who has one of these instruments, to tell me it was OTT for someone of my age and limited capabilities, but they both said to go for it---I can afford it at the moment---cannot take it with me---may as well enjoy the playing------

So---the new violin (Italian style copy) will come home to a modern Cremonese case-----I just have to be patient, and hope that I am not too arthritic, demented or deaf by the time I get them!

That all sounds brilliant Louloubelle biggrin.gif
I wouldn't usually spend this much but it's my 21st birthday and i have very generous family! And they would rather me spend it on something big that i'll treasure and keep rather than whittle it all away on clothes etc. so i think its a justified purchase biggrin.gif
What model and colour have you ordered? I do very much like the momentum with the plain red interior, but i think the blue flowery silk is more 'me' and they happen to have it in the shop already, which has now been put away waiting for me happy.gif
Lottie keep watching that page, you never know!! smile.gif

Just out of interest which shop? Can you buy them in the UK? ph34r.gif
Tenor Viol
I've had another look at their web site - some really nice cases. Sadly, viols and cellos aren't as well served. This is a case for a bass viol - rather expensive and fairly functional. A tenor is much smaller, but I suspect the price won't be tongue.gif

Eek - you need to add VAT to the prices....

I seem to recollect that somewhere on the Musafia wesite is a picture of a case they mad for a viol.....bet it's even pricier than a usual Musafia! laugh.gif

I have a Musafia like Hubicka's - also a Momentum Z, but different colour. Always draws admiring glances... blush.gif

Kinghams make made-to-measure cases and are the commonest cases for viols and lutes. For my tenor GBP350 + VAT + another 20% if you want velvet instead of plush linings. Still very functional...
Halka
Yes, can I add a plug for Kingham's who made a case for daughter's slightly unusual bass clarinet? See http://www.abrsm.org/forum/index.php?showt...;#entry972572an

I have a question for Hubicka and Jessy, and anyone else who has a Musafia Momentum case.

I am very interested to see that Hubicka is getting a Momentum case, and Jessy has one already.
I was put off this model becausee of the measurements----Musafia quote a maximum bow length which Musafia quote for this case is shorter than my 3 bows, and the shop through which I have orderded my case agreed that it was very tight. The only bows which seem to be shorter than mine are Arcus---not sensible for me with my present fiddle.

Question therefore-----how do you find the Momentum model and the fit of your bows?

My full size bows do fit in though I must say one (or two?) of the slots are rather a tight fit! There seems to be a bit of a kanck to getting the bows in and out, because the case is very compact (one of its selling points for me) without any room wasted. Getting past the inner retaining strap on the right hand side was tricky to begin with.

I didn't actually think to measure my bows before I ordered the case. I notice on the Ultra Light model that the bow ribbons are slanted, suggesting there is more bow length available in that case. If in doubt, email Musafia - they are amazingly helpful! smile.gif

Thankyou for this Jessy

Yes, I did email Musafia a while ago, and they were adamant that there was a maximum length of bow, (as per their web site)---and 0.5 cm shorter than I measured my 3 (standard) bows!
I have therefore gone for the Luxury Classic model---a bit longer, a little heavier and not so "pretty". However, this latter is a (mixed) blessing. While really liking the pretty silk contasting linings, I thought I might be a bit self-conscious openign my case at my violin and fiddle groups with something so pretty !.
A little extra weight is not a problem, as I carry my fiddle case as a rucksack anyway.
I suppose I expected you to say you could just get your bows in, though---as why would Stringzone and Cardiff Violins stock the Momentum if no-one could get their bows in. All very strange---- rolleyes.gif
jessy
Yes, I CAN 'just' get my bows in, I'd just never measured them before, but I have now...the longest of my bows in the case is 74.6cm, if that's any help, which is a carbon bow.

Even if you don't go for the Momentum Z, Musafia will always use any particular gabric you might want. I was a little self-conscious about opening such a pretty (flashy?) case to begin with, but what the heck, you only live once!
