We are hoping to convert the double garage (19'7 x15'5) in our new house into a music studio for practice, concerts, teaching etc and we were wondering whether anyone had any idea how much this might cost. We did it with the garage in my existing property and it has been very successful but that was some time ago and costs will have risen!

Thanks.

Only tenuous suggestion I can make is that when I got my flat renovated, I got the soundproofing materials from this website http://www.soundstop.co.uk/ which allows you to look up the prices of the kit. If you're considering soundproofing, that is.

Depending on use, you will also need to comply with various building regs.

Most garages are built with only single leaf walls (i.e. there is no cavity), and there is rarely any damp proof membrane under the floor, so you will need to have the walls lined, and a damp proof membrane laid; usually before fitting a suspended wooden floor
