Hey ive ben playing the violin for about 4 years and until now have always use something called "fast fret" to clean my strings after playing. However this is something for all stringd instruments and it doesnt seem to be doing the job. I have just bought new "Doninant" strings and as they're expensiv i dnt want 2 ruin dem.
Has anyone got any ideas on how clean i shud keep them and what 2 use?
Help appreciated

Hi, I have always used Pirastro string cleaner to clean my strings. I too use Dominant strings, I apply the string cleaner to an old handkerchief to clean the strings, try to keep the string cleaner off the fingerboad smile.gif

Very rarely do I clean my strings properly, as it's nice to have a teeny bit of rosin on them when you play, but I ALWAYS wipe them down with a duster after I've finished playing. I suppose periodically I use a spirit of some sort, like cheap vodka, to get it off. Just keep the stuff off the wood!
