Hi,
I was going to find an appropriate forum to ask this question, but thought I could ask here first...

I'm not sure, but I think BT are doing us over as we seem to paying an awful lot for very little. Our current plan is free weekend calls and 40GB broadband and our last bill came in at around ?146 for three months. Which works out at nearly ?50 a month sad.gif Looking at the BT website, they don't even do a free calls at weekends only bundle so not sure how we ended up with them. But the websites are all confusing and the hidden costs that aren't in big numbers like line rental which I think is just over ?14 a month...

Could I get a better deal elsewhere? Maybe I should phone BT and threaten to leave and see if they offer a better deal. But They are closed today sad.gif So if anyone has any advice that I could look into before I try calling again on probably Wednesday now, it would be much appreciated!

Thank you. smile.gif

Oh dear, I sincerely hope not because I'm in the process of switching my broadband to BT from another company as I thought their offer was reasonable and much cheaper than what I am paying at the moment. They have offered me broadband for 13 pounds per month, which is half of what I'm paying at the moment, together with unlimited free daytime and weekend calls for a year (even to numbers beginning with 08..) and a free "home hub", whatever that is. Now I'm wondering whether I've done the wrong thing. wacko.gif

AS long as you take the view that you would be paying the line rental on top whether you had the BT deal or not then it's a good deal. Remember that any speed offered is 'up to' and not necessarily what you get.
I just think that the BT advertising is misleading as the real cost is somewhere like double what they quote because of the line rental. It's all in the small print....
I'd also be wondering what happens after the 12 month free calls.

Yes, I'm not very good with small print. One thing they did tell me was that the free calls are for a maximum of one hour, so if I need to talk to someone for more than one hour (which is unlikely for me), I need to hang up before the hour finishes and then redial, whereupon I will have another free hour. laugh.gif

I'm not sure about the exact package we're on as MrCJB looks after broadband things but I'm sure we were offered another deal that included free calls (I prefer to think of them as no additional charge rather than free!) at the end of 12 months. We have the fibre-to-cabinet broadband which has proved much faster and more reliable than our previous provider. I think there was also a bundle which if we paid the line rental for the year in advance we got caller display free for a year as well.
