Does anyone know whether ABRSM stipulate the amount of space required for an 'exam room' at a Special Visit? I haven't got enough pupils at the moment, but it's something I'm considering for the future, but I'm a bit worried whether there'd be enough space in my teaching room

I just read the title and my immediate reaction was, "I didn't realise they sent ABRSM examiners into space, even for a Special Visit."
Our local centre (in a house) is grim - barely enough room to squeeze a violinist in beside the grand piano without bumping into the lamp or treading on the examiner! I had my first special visit this year and used our less-than-huge lounge as the exam room - it was certainly an improvement...

We gave our last examiner a smallish room, space for a piano, a desk, a kid playing an instrument and not loads more. She was fine with it. I did put the desk as far back as possible but that was not very far!

Yes, I did read that - I expected it to tell me, but it didn't seem to go into that much detail.

Having seen your teaching room, I think it'd be ok.

Definitely wouldn't fit in my teaching room...

My studio is not large and I was worried about it, too. I phoned the Board and all they would say was that the candidates should not be able to read what the examiner is writing, so I took the plunge. Several visits later and no examiner has ever commented.
