OK Baby Banana, I'll respond, though you surely know that other people would be better qualified!

You know that you are going to be told that there is no substitute for a teacher. That's true - especially if you are young, it's easy to get into bad habits trying to stretch your arms and hands around the guitar, which is after all quite a big instrument.

That said, why don't you stick with your present series for another book or two...better to go to intermediate stage with one consistent system than chop and change, especially if you don't have a teacher.

Lots of people take up the guitar themselves and play really well? I flatted with a couple of these people...they didn't play *that* well, and they wrecked a fair number of tape recorders rewinding tapes and trying to copy them! Everybody who plays well learns from other people, whether you call them teachers or friends or hated rivals!

'Really Easy Guitar' are good books. I taught myself quite alot before I started lessons. The chords one is really good and if you go on ultimate guitar .com you can get loads of songs then teach yourself the chords with the books
