Hello again,

Well exactly four hours ago I was doing my Grade 3 Flute exam.

I'm relieved it's over, but am also feel a little 'flat' because it didn't go quite as well as I was hoping. Overall it was okay, but of course I can't help but think about the bits that went wrong!

One line into my first piece, my mind went blank and I actually had to miss out a few notes and then come in again. I missed out a few notes later on too (in the same piece). Luckily, the other pieces went okay though.

Scales - again, my mind went blank and I messed up a couple of them. My chromatic scale went okay though, and a few arpeggios. Sight reading and Aural tests went okay.

I feel my problem during the first piece was that I wasn't concentrating hard enough and let my mind wander for a split second (because I was nervous?).

So my advice is concentrate, concentrate, concentrate!

Good luck everybody who's taking an exam this session.

When i took my grade 3 sax exam about 2 years ago, i sqweeked all the way through my list B peice. This was mainly due to nerves and when i got home i felt really down because i thought all my practising had been a waste of time as i just messed up completly. But i actually passed with 127 marks, so it just shows that things arn't always that bad. x
