Hi,
What is you most proudest piece you have learnt on the piano. The one you thought was to hard for you, or the one others said you couldn't play!!!!
But you did it!!!! and showed them you could do it!!!
My piece would be the raindrop prelude by chopin, i loved the sound of it, and got the sheet music for it, and thought nah!!! no way!!! but 3 weeks later, i can play it!!! woohoo!!! im proud of myself for it!!!!
What is yours????

When I was about Grade 5, I got this music. It was the Ostinato from Suite Antique, and it was my ambition to be able to play it. Well, I didn't play it for ages, but now I cam play it well, including the septuplet. Not piano, but I am proud for learning it!

Mine is Moonlight Sonata.
I constantly watched my friend play it practising for her exam when I was 15 (a long time ago now !) Then I started to learn to play it through watching.
I managed about the first half and then quite a few years later as an adult, I started to read music for piano and completed it ! That was way before my G1 too
I've currently completed the 2nd mvmnt which was much easier than I thought. I learnt it in a week ! Chuffed or what
Now I just need to takle the 3rd mvmnt which does look like it's out of my reach - for now at least. But if I hadn't persevered with the 1st part, I wouldn't be tackling the 3rd.

Mine's Canon in D!
My cousin wanted me to play it but I told her that it was too difficult as I wasn't *up-to-that-standard-yet*
Then a few months later, I wanted to play it for her anyway and I tried it and it wasn't so bad because I was doing arpeggious and stuff so it made it easier for me!
I'm halfwauy throught the piece now

I think mine was my Praeludium from Ludas Tonalis by Hindemith- actually one of the pieces in the grade 8 syllabus! I didn't do it for my exam, but I realized two weeks before the festival I was playing it in that there only was two weeks to go, and I had to learn it in two weeks!

Aaaargh! I did manage to learn it, didn't win the class but I got the cup for best solo performance of the festival!!!

The adjudicator said it was 'the highlight of the festival' which made me crack up for ages afterwards because I
had only been learning it for two weeks!!!

lol I sound like a stuck record! So I'm going to shut up and post this!
byse byes!

For me it was the Liszt Sonata, people say it's tremendously hard but when I looked at the music I decided to give it a try. Not easy for someone with only a 9th

And now I've got it done, performed it and again put it down till it's needed again...
But this piece is VERY exhausting, both physically and emotionally...

The first movement of Mozart's piano sonata K545, which I learnt off by heart a couple of years ago before doing grade three.
My piano teacher at the time suggested I study it as a challenge, and then when I had learnt it made me carry out an impromptu performance of it in front of her husband at the end of one lesson.

My proudest piece is *Two Beds and a Coffee Machine* by Savage GArden. It's not a classical piece, but I'm really proud of it, as I taught myself how to play it...

Whoa...that's pretty early!
What do you mean as an "impromptu performance"? Did you play impromptus or something? Or did you improvise freely? Impromptu has something to do with "improvise", I think.

AllI meant was that I wasn't given any warning that she wanted me to perform the piece in front of her husband in advance.

Mozart's Sonata in F, K 332. It's the piece I used to convince someone that I'm ready for grade 5, even though it's only been a year since I started my piano lessons.

Oh, I understand...but the musical definition of the word "impromptu" is a work that when played has the impression of being improvised...just take a look at one of Schubert's impromptus. I've learned the one in Eb major. I've found playing on occassion can be a bit better because you don't have time to be nervous!
