Hello

I am preparing for Grade 6 but I have two problems (well, more than that, but two for now!!) rolleyes.gif

First, my teacher says my sightreading is quite good but I am not so sure. My problem is I can do the slow stuff fine, no matter the key, but as soon as there is any tempo worth speaking about, I become very hesitant. sad.gif

The second issue, and it may be the cause of the first problem, is I freeze up when I try to look ahead to the next bar. Any tips would be welcome.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem- but I normally find that if the tempo is slow it doesn't matter as long as the notes are right, you can get 17 or 18, and if you do dynamics etc you can get a really high mark! I got 19 for my last one because I made a few mistakes.

Thanks for that. I too got about 18 or 19 on grade 5. The thing is, I think I can get through the exams, but I just want to be better at sight reading generally, ie able to play faster music up to speed.

HEY!

Don't worry about it! just relax and u'll be fine! and don't worry about the speed to much, as long as you are able to give the impression and style needed it won't matter too much!

good luck!
