I would be most grateful if anyone out there to advise me regarding the sizing of cello. I am not very tall and almost grown up to my adult height, judging my parents aren't tall people. I estimated that I will be about 5 ft tall end the end of my growth year!

At the moment, I have a half-sized cello but wish to buy the next size up. But, don't really want to pay the extra for a three-quarter. Do all adult use full size?

Please help. And thanks for those whom responded.

It's very rare to find even the smallest adults playing a cello smaller than a 7/8th. There are lots of small cellists out there who successfully find instruments that suit them physically, and even with a string length suitable for small hands.

Just remember that you might have to look around for a bit longer until you find something that you feel comfortable with. If any instrument you try feels too big and ungainly, don't buy.

A full sized cello has better resonance and sonority, but if you're sure you will be no taller than 5 feet (aprox. 150 cm) then it's better to buy a 3/4 or 7/8.
