hi all,
wondering if someone in this room can help me out. Been looking around for 52" uprights and i am really interested in Petrofs and Yamahas. i haven't had a chance to try out a Yamaha U5 yet, but i had the chance to try the Petrof 135 Klassic. She's a very beautiful piano. The U5 is sold here..and so i have to wait for another week for the store to get another one.

Does anyone out there is familiar with either piano and can give me a good comparison. How do they compare...i know that the U5 responds like a grand, and so does a Petrof...but what are your likes and dislikes of a Yamaha and or a Petrof. what are their differences? bright/soft? etc.

and also, how is the resale value of a Petrof? over here (US), and the area i stay in, the petrof is not a very very popular one...everyone just goes with Yamaha...so i sort of also hesitate whether i should invest in a petrof or a yamaha...

thanks for any opinions!

My piano teacher has a Petrof and it is wonderful. Rich sound. Better, I think, than Yamaha which can be overly bright for my taste.

I bought a Petrof a couple of years ago and I'm really pleased with. It's beautiful for things like Rachmaninoff. My teacher used to teach on a Yamaha and people found it really difficult to control. She had to have quite a lot of work done on it until she was happy with it.
