Hello everyone!
A friend of mine wants to leave choir and stop singing altogether because of the teacher! She says that she doesn't like singing anymore (though she loved it before) because he makes us sing too much! It's alright for me because I like doing nothing but singing, but she now wants to stop!
How can I (or should I even?) persuade her to stay?
Any help appreciated and reflections on own/similar experiences welcome!
Cheers,

it's very stupid indeed to stop doing something because of a certain person or thing..... i think one should act according to their will.....not always being affected by other people....

i bet your friend loves singing sooo much..... ask her why she starts singing in the first place..... tell her that she can talk to the teacher if there's really too much singing..... you can't do or study something because of a person..... you do it for your own good.... or interest...

I agree! I do choir etc. because I love singing and can never get enough of it. I've tried to persuade her by telling her not to let the teacher discourage her, but seeing as she'd still have the same teacher if she stayed, this didn't really convince her!

my recommendation would be to find a different teacher or different choir... if the teacher she has is discouraging her so much she may end up just hating it and giving up. that's what happened to me on piano, and is why it took me 13 years to get back to having lessons...

I have had the same problem with one of my friends, she loved to sing but did this one concert series and decided that she didn't like it anymore but i think all along she wan't as commited as i was and the fact that she didn't feel any sense of achievement from singing because alot of people her age were better than her. Is your friend a good singer?? because if she is u could try the "you'll regret it if you leave" tack or just let her go and ask her in a while if she misses it or not............. just a thought!
