Well it's very much up to you. The 1970-77 Brendel recording is at 72.

Just out of interest, what exam are you sitting?

Um...first movement or second movement? It's only the first movement in the grade 8 exam. Or is it the diplomas you're playing in? The first movement is 144=crotchet, or 48=dotted half note.

I am a student in the Konservstorium here in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany & next week is my final exams for the semestral... & i have to play both the 1st & 2nd movement... :-(

My teacher complains it is too slow. So i looked into the grade 8 book for the metronome mark & i got the 1st movement.. but i don't have the 2nd movement. My 1st movement is really fine... but i need the metronome mark for the 2nd to determine the speed.

Tovey quotes: " 96= crotchet has been gravely suggested.....not the slightest danger that the mvt will become sentimental at a perfectly steady 84=crotchet.

Op 90 Nicht zu geschwind.

Ok...off now to have a bash at this myself.
