hi guys....this is liebe_klavier speaking....and i'm in a very bad mood.....

i did pretty well for my Trinity's Performer's Certificate...(piano)....it went really well and i think the examiner was rather impressed....i think i would have a good result..... anyway....my organ grade 6 is coming this thursday..... but this won't happen anymore....because:

i practised the organ yesterday in the school chapel from 5 till 7...... then guess what... a piece of stone fell down from the ceiling....then went straight down to one of the puilt.....it's scary.....it was fortunate that i wasn't in the scene...i had left the chapel before it happened....i was glad that i didn't get killed..... however...my exam has been called off.....after all my preparation....slightly disappointed.... sad.gif

Ouch! These things happen. Sorry it happened to you, especially after all your hard work. Do you know when it will be moved to?
Helen
Well it will surely be rearranged, which gives you more time for preparation. Its just a good job you weren't there.
Violinia
Goodness, that's really scary - could you seriously have been killed?????!!!! Hopefully you might have heard the thing dislocating itself from the celing and got away in time - but maybe not...

The mind boggles, and thank goodness you weren't there.

I'm sorry that you're disappointed after putting in so much work, but it could have been so much worse sad.gif .
pianist_1210
was the place you perform like a hall or something??
....they should have make sure that the place is safe b4 you play dry.gif ...
how big was the stone anyway?? i bet it'll be rather huge isn't it if i can KILL you... unsure.gif
Rosemary
Are you the only one who's taking an exam on the organ this week? Can't it / they all be re-arranged / re-scheduled to another venue?

huh.gif
liebe_klavier
i've got a lot of options....however....i think it would be safe to wait until june...this is because i can't get-used to another organ in just 2 days..... and most of all...i need to store memory in the organ and i can't garanetee that the memory won't be changed......

ps: i went to the chapel again today and saw the damage....it's very scary....
sbhoa
Scary.. we had a vocar once narrowly missed getting hit by a falling bell rope at the end of a Good Friday service ohmy.gif
Helen
We have a "ghost" behind our choir stalls apparently. Its supposed to be the ghost of an old vicar... Although I think my ranger leader may just be trying to scare us... unsure.gif Considering there is a blind member of the congregation with a guide dog who are supposed to be very sensitive to those sort of things...

Liebe_klavier, waiting till June has advantages, especially since you can't be certain what you prgram into the memory will stay. Also, you can be extra-prepared with scales and stuff! biggrin.gif
Amber
Thank goodness you weren't hurt. It must be disappointing for you, but June will come soon enough. And the extra preparation time will no doubt be reflected in your marks.

Thats a terrible thing to happen! Its disappointing that you can't do your exam until June, but you are so lucky you weren't in the building when that happened or doing your exam at the time. It will be no time til June anyway and I'm sure you will benefit from the extra time and gain a few extra marks.
tremolololo
Don't worry about the exam being postponed. Just be glad you're not hurt!
musicbox
o so sorry for you but every cloud had a silver lining even when it rains so dont be to downhearted as things are about to change all you gotta do is where a smile and you will find........your sun will shine
cecilia
Goodness, that's awful! Don't feel too bad- just look on it as extra time to prepare! smile.gif

Well all I can say is that I knew churches were dangerous places!

Well done on the old exam. I'm new here, don't be frightened. But anyway, nice one!

Probably not, even assuming you are female smile.gif but I do feel it pays to think quite hard about what you are showing about your attitude to the occasion by the way you dress. People are usually dressed quite formally when they give a recital, appropriately to the time of day. I don't know what instrument you play, or whether you sing, but I usually recommend that girls/ladies wear either a skirt or dress or really smart trousers, and "real shoes" rather than trainers, for example. No everyday jeans for either sex. It needs to be something in which you are comfortable doing what you need to do, but I suggest nothing extreme (e.g. no very short mini-skirts or super-flamboyant ties). For young candidates taking grade exams on school days I suggest they wear their school uniform. That way if they do happen to have an examiner with strong views about what people should wear it's obvious it wasn't their choice!
liebe_klavier
thanks for the comment.....for your information.....i was wearing a suit when i was playing in my exam....oh well...... focus on dipABRSM now.....programme sort of set now...

Prelude and Fugue, Part 1, no.14 in F# minor (BMV 859)
Sonata in B Flat major, K.570
Des Abends, Aufschwung (Schumann)

and something else.....haven't decided yet....
cecilia
Yay well done! smile.gif You must feel so happy!

hi guys....i've just started my summer term...(yr.12)....anyway...i went to the chapel today...it's very "safe" now....as the workers had put something to support the ceiling....and the scenery wasn't nice at all....i think i have to bare with that for the rest of the term.....(dust....all the time).....i'm sure by the time i'm doing my exam...(this term)...he or she would be amazed on the state of the chapel....
Emma C
I hope they have covered the organ pipes. All that dust will be no good for it. We had some work done in church recently - the organist wanted to put paint pots on all the pipes to keep the dust out, but we settled for a plastic shroud instead.

Hi liebe_klavier,

Trinity are a bit fussy about dress. I've done one exam with Trinity (a piano trio exam) where we dressed up as fairies - haven't had the results back though!!

My brother did a Trinity Performer's Certificate on the cello and he dressed in a dinner jacket and bow tie - very very formally. I was accompanying him and I was wearing a rugby shirt and jeans (I didn't think the examiner would concentrate on me; after all, it was my brother's exam!) But the examiner took a mark off because "the accompanist was not suitably dressed". My brother still got 83% but keeps reminding me that he could have got 84!

Congratulations anyway though, that's a fantastic result.

Congratulations! laugh.gif

I seem to remember that the syllabus for the performing exams does actually mention that appearance will be marked.

Yay, well done! biggrin.gif
liebe_klavier
a big thank you to all....as for the dress code...i think i'd better be careful when i do my dipABRSM next year.....anyway....i've had my first practice in the chapel.... it was weird....with all the construction and everything on the site.....
**Berry**
aah bless ya, well at least your ok!lol But just think, now you have plenty of time to practise and prepare and to improve all your pieces so that they are absolutely perfect!lol Not that they weren't already perfect!LOL
