I've heard that only some males can use this - is this true? I can, and I can hit 2 octaves above middle C...more if I try.

How many people can use it? And how high? My normal voice is (at its very highest) Middle C (to its very lowest) the E an ocatve and a half below that...

Any ideas? blink.gif

mmmm My singing teacher pushes me to G above the stave, but i'm happiest below middle C (as written).
I don't see the point of Falsetto, i prefer to sing in a natural voice. Although i suppose it could have its place. hmmm...

Better that than being a castrato blink.gif

Indeed....imagine turning up at an audition....

And you were the only castrato in the choir....!!

If you were poor in the 18th century and you had a son with a good treble voice, there was excellent money to be made from keeping his voice like that and having him sing the high parts in operatic roles.

The means by which it was achieved was not pleasant and even the most humane methods still weren't painless blink.gif

Of course these days you could always try using a few deep breaths of helium gas laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Too much and you'll sound like a cartoon character, but at least the process is reversible!! tongue.gif

Helium doesn't really work for me, my voice is quite deep, so I sound like everyone else....

It was still funny at the cadets' Christmas Meal... laugh.gif
