biggrin.gif Hello boys,girls,men, women,horses mice, dogs, cats,rabbits budgies,beetles,worms,birds,ponies and any other creature..... biggrin.gif
Just leaving to take my grade two, he typed nervously biting his nails....
It's in a church and the examiner is a Doctor....is'nt that normally associated with the last rites....ah well if it goes badly wrong I should be ok.
He's probably a Doctor of music....maybe he could make my sick playing better....
I will give you an update later if I survive...

biggrin.gif Hello
Thanks for the wishes...well I survived....I am 46 and as nervous as anything.....Thought my Aurals were average....I hate singing....
Played pieces ok but with an error in my second piece and started it again from half way....
Based on my grade one I would say the overall performance was about the same....so I hope to have passed....
Well I must go and breathe more oxygen....
BBFN Mike
Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piano_Lady
which songs did you play???
PlinkPlonkMan
Hello Piano Lady biggrin.gif
I played Rigadoon....in which I always rush the quavers in the left hand in bars 3 and 7.....making it sound a bit muddy...
2nd piece Barcarolle which is the piece I resatarted from half way...I played a wrong note...I had never made that error before at that point but when I restarted pressed the same wrong note but just carried on...it's weird trying to play when your nervous...eating the bannana thing did'nt work for me....
3rd piece was Get in Step...I played this all the way through and got a bit louder than normal as I think I was a bit angry with my previous mistakes...When I think back I could have made lots of mistakes but didn't realise...it's like being in a trance...it really spoils my ability to play at my best....hope the examiner can see through the errors/nerves.

Examiners can tell the difference between candidates who make mistakes because they are nervous and those who make mistakes because they really don't know the piece well enough. Don't worry, I'm sure you have done well!

Yes, examiners will know candidates will be nervous, so they will not expect everything to be perfect, and will mark accordingly.

Dear Mike

Sounds like you did very well!
I bet you're relieved it's over. I've got my grade 3 on Wednesday and am feeling really nervous already.
In my last exam the examiner sat behind me. Is this usual as I found that quite unsettling? hope I'm less nervous this time.
Let us know when you get your results I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Hi Annette biggrin.gif
Good Luck on Wednesday...yes I am very very very very glad it's over....
My last two exams have both been male examiners and both have been sat in positions where I can see them in my peripheral vision....(hope that spellings currect)...........Currect was a joke....not very funny eh....
Just think it's not as bad as going to the dentist.....

Yes Mike that's a good one!!! - I hate going to the dentist!!
Will try and bear that in mind on Wednesday.

Well done Mike, you survived and good luck for the results.

I'd agree, definitely not as bad as going to the dentist wink.gif.

Hi All

Did my grade 3 piano yesterday! - so glad it's over!!

Pleased to say it went better than grade 2 as although I made mistakes in my pieces I did manage to just pick it up and carry on. Unlike last time - I just fell apart!, lost my place, hands, brain etc. went to jelly!!!

I still wish I could have played my pieces better but it least it was an improvement on last time. I really would have thought twice about doing another exam if I'd messed up like I did in grade 2.

So here's hoping!!!!! as I join the rest of you awaiting results

biggrin.gif Hello Annette

Can't remember!! - it's all a bit of a blur now!

Thanks Mike and Andante in C for your replies. Am keeping my fingers crossed now for the results ( and for you as well Mike!)
In the meantime will start to have a look at grade 4 as well as working on some other stuff that I've been wanting to play.

It's Easter and have 4 days off work - Hooray!!! - so plenty of time for piano practice!!!

Love Annette x
