What piece are people doing for their grade 6?
I'm doing the first and second movement of the Tartini,
San Remo's by Robin Grant, and i have been learning no35 from the james Rae book but i hate that piece with a passion and was wondering if anyone has played another piece from group c thats nice to play.

Cheers.
Sam.

A: Either the Tartini or the Brahms. Or the Mozart... unsure.gif ... I am learning them all, asl I love them all, and will decide which one I can play best at a later date.
B: Bliss! biggrin.gif
C: James Rae No 35, like you. I love it, actually! Perhaps you will like the Baermann? I hated that! laugh.gif I have also tried the Graham Lyons, and didn't like that either.

When are you planning on taking the exam?

Hmmm..i really don't know what lists most of the pieces are on but i'm considering:
A:Tartini/Mozart/Spohr
and for the others...the Chris Allen Study, and Prelude by Paul reade.

does anyone else think that there are too many good pieces to choose from!?
Fred
YES!!!

Not so much the studies, but lists A and B are really calling out to me! I've decided to try and learn as many of them as possible (ie, as I can afford!) because there's so much great material there that I wanna play.
saxlover
yes i agree, the studies are a bit........mmm.... but the rest!

ive got quite a few pieces so got a lot to choose from

I am playing; mozart/prelude - finzi/meditation - james rae. I think the pieces are ok but they don't particularly interest me, i think there are probably better pieces out there! smile.gif

I played the Mozart concerto, Silent Movie (cant remember wot book its from but its sooooo cool) and 35 from James Rae. I hated it but I got 30 marks for it... so now i love it biggrin.gif
