Is this possible? My guitar teacher has just become an examiner, and I was wondering if any of you have known your examiner....
Could this perhaps bias your marks?
From a very thoughtful me......it hurts, can you tell?

No! I know some examiners but they are never allowed to examine in their own area so they have never examined any of my students.

My last piano teacher examined for the Board, but no, he never had to examine me. Some of the tales he told almost made me feel sorry for examiners (well, imagine sitting through three solid hours of Grade 1 violins, all of whom have the same bad teacher!).
The examiner for my Grade 3 clarinet, which I took about a hundred years ago, seemed to know my teacher - or maybe he was just trying to put me at ease by being friendly to her.

I kind of knew my examiner, they year i did grade 3 piano was also the year i did my As music exam and i had the same guy examine me for both, he also was really good mates with my teacher but i dont think that affcte dmy grade at all as although i did really well in my piano 134 distinction i didnt do particularly well in the AS exam.

I have known several examiners who have examined my pupils, but I can't say it's ever affected the marks, they've always been very fair.

Well, one examiner I know lives within 2 miles of our centre and she examined there!

I had to teach an examiner (to play jazz) alongside 20 other violinists, nearly all of them teachers, the other day. Nerve-wracking or what??!!!

I've got a slight prob as my A level music recital is in two weeks time and the examiner has the same name and is coming from the same area as my aunt! I havent been able to contact her because shes a session musician as well as an ABRSM examiner and never really stays anywhere for very long!

An examiner who came to our centre last year I was shocked to find out was the music teacher at my comprehensive school from 25 years ago, and his wife used to be my piano teacher. It was nice to have a chat and catch up!
