I've got the grade two version of 'Making the grade' and there's a grade 1 book...let me just find you a link...
It's not really a tutor book, but it gives you some well known songs to mooch around with..

Thanks, I've ordered the selected exam pieces book, but I think I'll get one or two of the books from maggiemay's list. Thanks for your contributions.
P.S This was my 100th post, yay!

Maggie's list is excellent. To it I would add:
Several of the publications from Pauline Hall's series for OUP
Easy Jazzin' about and Really Easy Jazzin' about (Pamela Wedgwood)
The "Upgrade" series of books
The latter of these are all pretty jazz-contemporary music orientated but in the Oxford series there are books containing more classical melodies.
I have a variety of pupils on a variety of these publications and the ones Maggie mentions.
What works for one doesn't for another - so it's personal taste and what you and your teacher think would be helpful.

I would agree with everyone else and I have been using the what can I play series of books.
