Henry
Hi there, what i super web site this is!

Anyway, i have taken my grade 8 on alto and tenor saxophones and this summer i will hopefully be taking my grade 8 and diploma on baritone saxophone. However i have realised that on the certificates they only say either "E Flat Saxophone" or "B Flat Saxophone". This is a shame because i beleive that each instrument is its on with it's own characteristics. For example a violin is completely different to a viola, cello or double bass and they are each accurately described on the certificates not just "string instrument".

I would really love to hear from anyone who shares my opinion or is in a similar situation to myself and hopefully with colabiration with the ABRSM we could help to change how the certificates appear.

Cheers again,

Henry.

Hi Henry this is a very valid point, maybe this will be eventually addressed by the Board. I certainly agree with you, i did my grade 8 on the Alto saxophone not the Eb saxophone as it says on my certificate. What is Eb sax? its a bit vague is'nt it? I also feel the cornet and flugel horn have a right to be viewed as instruments in their own right too, rather than playing second fiddle to trumpet.

Unless i'm wrong aren't they marked as Soprano, Eb, Bb and Baritone on the certificates?

They're all the same fingering, so it doesn't make a huge difference.
