On my piano, recently, i have noticed that i have several sticky keys. Which, when I play, the seem not to relese for a littlw while and it is getting rather annoying.

Is there a solution to this this problem other than getting the piano tuner out??
Semele
I would think you need the tuner out.But post your query here and see what he says.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

Have you got an upright with a practise pedal? The strip of fabric that gets dropped down in front of the strings when you press the pedal can sometimes get stuck and will catch the hammers - this stops the keys coming all the way back up. If this is the prob, open the lid up and run your hand along the cloth to flatten it again and then next time the tuner comes ask them to check the adjustment on the mechanism.
Else, yup, you need a technician in!

Ok. I'll get the tuner out. He might be suprised because he tunes our piano once every 2 years and have had just had it tuned.

Thanks Fen

I've been having a peep on the other forum. Fingers crossed it isn't the worse scenario.

Was this problem occurring when you last had it tuned?

Good Luck.

- It could either be very expensive or quite cheap

- It has happened for a while but this bad

-I hope it is good news.

So your tuner was aware of it? Did he voice any opinion?

I wonder why it has suddenly deteriorated? Mind you,it's difficult over the internet, but B is very thorough.

OH! Was the room sunbathing? The piano should have objected strongly.I hope your piano used some tan lotion...Factor No15.

Sorry.I'm just drinking some wine and being a funny bunny.

Seriously though, hope all goes well for you.

Thanks Semele for the link. Have posted my query there - not quite the same problem- more a small number of notes intermittently not sounding. The keys themselves are fine. I thought the piano tuner sorted it out a few weeks ago but problem now seems to have returned. Irritating when it keeps happening while playing, also worrying in case it's expensive to get it sorted!!
Must be good wine you're drinking biggrin.gif

as for fluteandbassoon the problem with my piano sounds as though it either might not be too serious or might be expensively (several hundreds) serious. I'm worried now & am waiting for a second opinion from another piano tuner. And the piano's only just over 3 years old. Anyone know what Yamaha are like with their guarantees!
