Let us all pray, so that the soul of Pope John Paul II may rest in peace. So that he may live with his Creator from now in Peace.

This is chiefly a music forum but I would want to offer condolences to those who read these boards who have been affected by his death, primarily of course, those who subscribe to the Roman Catholic tradition of Christianity, wherever you live in the world.
I hope that your own gifts in music will console you at this time.

Although I was brought up an RC I now don't have the slighest interest in Religion at all.I also found it ironic his funeral has clashed with that farce of a marriage..
However may he RIP as all the other people that have departed this world.

Lets look for a musical angle..
I believe that the Pope released a CD of singing at some stage?
I am not sure if he ever got in touch with the Polish, Italian or Vatican branch of ABRSM - but I am sure he would have found them extremely helpful had he done so.
Also - I have heard reference to the special role that music plays in the RC church. I think it was an output of the 2nd Vatican Council under John XXIII - perhaps someone will know what John Paul II had to say about it.
