Just wondering, does anyone know where I can find a timeline for all the musical eras (Baroque, Classical, Romantic etc.)? Or does anyone know it?! (Do they have to learn it for A Level?) I think there are many sub-eras like Impressionism and Serialism too. (We have to compose a serialist piece!)
By the way, has anyone heard of 'Gaspard de la Nuit, 03 Scarbo - Maurice Ravel'? It's an Impressionistic piece apparently. And can any of you Grade 8/Diploma standards play it fluently with all the dynamics and correct tempo? All nine minutes or so of it? Or an even greater challenge, can anyone sight-read it? Ravel and Debussy are meant to be the two main composers for the Impressionistic era, but they sound completely different! But they are sort of similar in a way I suppose.

I can only find the score of Ondine in it, but not Scarbo.

We never learnt it for A-level! Well I hope we're not, otherwise there's only 6 weeks left to learn it!
It's debatable where different eras start and finish, coz some composers were ahead of their time, or slightly behind!
Just type the different periods into the BBC music website or a search engine, and it'll give you some info.
