When I entered for my gr 6 piano my teacher did it online & then I dug out my ancient gr 5 theory certificate & posted in a copy along with a copy of my birth & marriage certificate ( my theory certificate was in my maiden name).
Does anyone know if the AB keep a record of this or do I need to send in copies of the same for this time's exam entry. Or can I quote the certificate no. from my theory certificate??

My piano teacher informed me it is now kept on a database.

Thanks for that - so can I just say I've already provided the information. Or would they automatically check their database. I think my entry is going to be close enough to the closing date that I wouldn't want it to be returned - not if I've mentally got used to the idea of doing an exam in the summer!

That makes the third person on these forums I've assumed is male who is actually female. Thank goodness I found out before the concert.
Goes away feeling very silly again

The results must be kept on a database now for everybody. I knew that people who passed their theory relatively recently didn't have to send up proof, but last session I entered someone who did their grade 5 theory ages ago and we didn't have to provide any evidence.

Well I did my theory exam so long ago they did ask for proof!!
Andante - I bet I've made more erroneous assumptions than you!! So don't feel at all silly please

(There are quite a lot of people here that I keep changing my mind about -"noodle" being 1 of them for example?! BTW I wonder if I have made the wrong assumption about you?! mmm - this concert could be full of revelations)

Results 1983 and before - proof still needs to be sent in. Christine - can you clarify this? Thanks.
Or is it 1993????

Thanks everyone for this topic! I was trying to remember yesterday which year the board went "puterised" and I thought it was ninety-something, but I was not sure exactly. '93 seems likelier than '83, as I was working here in '83, but had been living overseas around '90 - '93 and not in touch with the board during that time.

On the same sort of subject, I've often wondered how these theory results on the database are checked when someone enters for a practical exam. If they've done theory exam with their instrumental teacher it's easy enough to check, but for example, last term I entered a pupil for grade 6 piano, she'd done grade 5 theory with a different teacher and at a different centre. And several times I've entered someone for the theory exam and then they've gone on to take a practical exam with another teacher. How do the AB make sure everyone's actually done their grade 5 theory?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but once the AB have seen the proof once, do they then enter it onto their database so it doesn't have to be shown again.
PS Noodle i have worked it out now - just needed to catch up on some of the other threads!!

Hi Semele,
No problem. Hope you enjoyed your shopping trip. Its so wet today, I got soaked going to the doctor.
Andy-piano-flute, thanks for starting this topic. It answered a question for me too. I did grade 8 theory in 1980 something I was wondering if I had to do it again because it was so long ago and I want to do grade 6 cello.
