Hello. I dont know if you remember but a while abck I said I was hoping to learn the piccolo - well I've just ordered my piccolo and am looking for a good book to help me. Do you know of any? I've heared piccolo,piccolo! might be good??? Any ideas

The Piccolo Practice Book by Trevor Wye is reputed to be very good.

There is a "Practice book for the Piccolo" by Trevor Wye and Patricia Morris which I have bought (quite expensive) - must admit to not using it much yet due to other commitments. I have also been recommended any other piccolo books by Patricia Morris as she is apparently a bit of a whizz!

I think the Picc practice as suggested by people already is a good one - and im pretty sure it was written in conjunction with Patricia Morris aswell. Most flute books will also suffice of course! Ummmm theres also a Robert Chapman concert study book used in music colleges which has some rather interesting (if a bit tricky) studies in that focus on tricky piccolo problems! Great fun HA HA!!!

DONT FORGET!!! Get some earplugs (honestly, its a good idea)!

hehe ok. Yeh I think the earplugs will be needed! I'm terrible at high notes as it is. I see you're a RCM grad. I went to there open day last week - it was a wonderful place!

hmmmmmm it depends what you want to get out of the place....If you are ok with spending hours and hours a day in solitude practicing then fine!!! However my teacher there was absolutely great A lovely guy with lots of experience and helpful advice. Get the right teacher and your sorted. dont want to say too much else about the place on here.

hmmmm yeh that sounds ok. I'l bear that in mind. I dont need to apply till this time next year, so I'd love to hear more at a later date.

You're right about the earplugs!! My piccolo arrived this afternoon - the high notes are very squeeky!
