In Minuet from L'arlésienne suite no2 by Bizet, I need to slur Bb2 to G3, and Bb2 to Bb3 but the note keeps splitting. Would it be terrible if I broke the slurs and tongued the notes? unsure.gif
Helen
Ok

After playing through my pieces, I have come to the conclusion I am going to be appaling in this audition tomorrow. It sounds like I am playing through an old sock, and you cant distinguish my dynamics.

I bet it doesn't - it's probably because you're tired & stressed. I've just tried practising scales & my flute sounds as though it's got cottonwool stuffed up it - in my case not only am I tired & stressed but i've also had a glass of wine which i don't think has helped any!!
Repeat after me - I can do this audition well - It will go OK i'm sure
If you're worrying about those notes it won't help much so maybe you should quietly tongue them - I mean it's not that enormous a crime is it???
Helen
Well I hope that being tired is the reason... I'll go over my pieces and things again after college, and hopefully they will go well...

I should have done it at 6 PM tonight. It was terrible. I walked into the car park and heard the people before me playing, which was incredibly good... sad.gif Then I waited in a room until 6.10 when my conductor said "Helen, we dont appear to have you on the list". I said "Well my head of music phoned the music service like you said". He fit me in anyway. I walked in thinking "breathing and dynamics". Neither of which happened. At all. I played the Bizet first, and the top G didnt work. It was mortifying. Then played the CPE Bach Sonata, even though I can play it well (i think) dynamics didn't happen, timing went astray at one point, and my fingers got knotted up when it got to the semiquaver passages. SO, yeah. It was pretty awful.

Awww, how nerve wracking not to have you on the list! At least they could fit you in. I am sure you played better than you thought you did. In my flute exam, the CPE Bach E minor 2nd movement, I completely messed up, and did well in it. Don't compare yourself to other people, ok they might have a good tone but you could have been better on another aspect! When do you get the results? *hug*
