Could someone please let me know what points you need tp score in a theory exam to pass and with merrit and distinction

66 marks to pass, 80 to get a merit and 90 to get a distinction (marked out of 100)

Actually, if you want to score distinction for your Theory Exam. Here are some of the guidelines.
1) Ask as many questions especially if you have any doubts.
2) Make sure you're clearly understand every single topic.
3) Memorise those Italian, German, French terms.
4) Make sure you check your signature, sharp, flat etc after you've finished your paper.
5) Practice and practice those past year exam papers.
Hope these tips will help you to score distinction for your Theory Exams.
Lastly, you must enjoy and love theory if not it will be quite difficult.

I always thought that theory has only pass and pass with distinction? but no merits? does different country has different class?
Since i got 86 for my grade 8 but all was written on my certificate is pass?

The board have recently introduced a merit for theory; there didn't used to be one.
I'll see if I can find it, it was in Libretto a while ago...
okay, page 5 Libretto January 2003 (you can get it from the news and articles section of the webstie)
So if you did your exam before then you would have just got a pass since merit didn't exist.
