Hi,

I was just wondering how does the grade 5 piano exam
differ from grade 6 because ive heard theres not alot
between the two. Would it be easier to skip grade 6 if its
similar to the grade 5 exam. I know it will depend on what
my teacher thinks but would i be wasting my time?

Thanks

ive skipped grade 4 and done grade 5 straight away but i'd do grade 6 if i were you cos even tho the exams not that different, i duno maybe it was just me but apparently they mark reli harshly frm grade 6 up cos ur gettin into pro' music.the scales and sight reading are a bit harder but pieces r ok. if ur relli gud at it then skip grade 6 and do 7. iv skipped 7 and am doing 8. gud luck btw.

I think that if you're able to skip grades and are good enough then why not? It saves time in the long run and you can always go back and do the grades you skipped if you wanted to do all of them. I skipped from grade 1 to grade 4 and now after doing grade 5 theory I'm taking grade 6. Hopefully after that I'll see if I can jump straight to 8 unsure.gif Have you taken grade 5 theory? Coz you can only take the higher grades (6, 7 & 8) if you've passed that first. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
