Hi,

Does anyone know any oboe teachers in the Stevenage area (Herts). I learned for about a year before my daughter was born and I would like to start lessons again.

Cheers
Deborah
The usual response to this (before anyone else posts it!) is to visit either your local music shop, or www.musicteachers.co.uk

You obviously don't know Stevenage. A Music shop???? The only music there is the harmonious screaming of drunken lager louts, the gentle wail of sirens, alarms going off and the sound of breaking glass in the percussion section. biggrin.gif

Hi Tasha,

We actually lived in Stevenage for 5 years and moved only 3 years ago. I seem to remember a music school/group funded by the local authority that offered lessons for most instruments.
Do a search in local Yellow pages, or just call the council and ask. Otherwise, call all the schools and perhaps the NHC for info.
You're living in one of the most densely populated parts of Europe. There MUST be an oboe teacher somewhere!

Try contacting John Myatt (specialist woodwind and brass shop) in Hitchin.

They keep (or at least I'm pretty sure they do) lists of teachers in the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire region. Ask for their oboe specialist and talk to him/her. I'm sure they'll know of a decent oboe teacher nearby. Quite sorry I cannot help you myself - I don't live close enough to Stevenage! Alternatively, as suggested, try looking up on in the internet as a starting point.

Happy return to music and very best wishes with your oboe studies. smile.gif

Thanks for your advice everyone, I'll give Myatts a ring and see. I should have thought of that as I bought my oboe from them.

Cheers
