My flute is being difficult to play... either somethings up with it, or I am having a series of bad playing days.

I have checked for springs coming out and screws coming loose but everything seems to be in order. Although, the screw on the top rod keeps coming out, so much that it has to be screwed back in all the time...

I want to get it sorted before my exam.

Go and take it to be serviced by a professional straight away. smile.gif Even if it is you having off days, it is better to be safe than sorry.

One of my flute screws has a tedency to not stay in place, I need to get it sorted...

My flute has developed an irritating rattle, I'm wondering if it's the flute thats got a screw loose, or me!

I supose I should get it serviced, it just costs a fortune if you go through any of the local music shops. (and I ean a fortune, I'm inclined to think I could afford Kodaly Summer school for the amount they quoted me last time!!) I just can't find the number of the person that did it for me last time, and I'm terrfied I might ring up (and him being rather on the old side) find he's dies or something! (Can you imagine the embaressment?!) ph34r.gif

Is it the screw at the very top of the flute's head? If so, you should go and get it serviced immediately. My teacher said to be really careful which that screw, as it can change the whole tuning of the flute (might explain the weird tone!)!

Sorry, not meaning to scare you, hope you sort it out! smile.gif

I had a major scare with my flute the other day! I have an exam in 2 weeks and on tuesday my flute decided it had a really sticky key! Luckily managed to fix it with some cigarette papers (thanks goodness to who ever thought of usin these on woodwind instruments!) so hopefully it will hold out if not guess whos taking a trip to the repairers!

Yikes!

I had a bit of a scare Thursday morning - when I had a lesson later that day - my flute wouldn't play anything except C#.... I was having a real panic! Then suddenly I noticed it was just that one of the trill keys' springs had come loose... boy was I relieved!
