Hello everyone!
Isn't this the most lovely, sad/heart-breaking tune ever? I'm singing it at my voice class, and it makes me feel so emotional! I can't stop singing it!
What do you all think of it?
Cheers,
Charlotte

Yes, one of my all-time favourites - just wonderful. There is a quotation from it on the wall of the Purcell Room in the South Bank Centre in London

Studied it for ground bass in GCSE - assuming I remember correctly which piece it is? Yes, it's lovely as far as I remember (it was at least 10 years ago...)

I performed Dido&Aeneas last year and I enjoyed the whole opera! My favourite chorus of all time is "ye cupids come" which is right after dido's lament. It's also very pretty but moving and sad, it connects with me on lots of different levels i think. It sounds even better with a small string quartet or trio.

Sang it as a solo with choir a couple of years ago.
Re-learning it as one of the pieces for my LTCL. The recitative is a bit tricky

but the air is lovely.

is it the one with the repeating ground base, katyjay? I'm wondering if I have remembered right...

Good to see so many fellow enthusiasts! I agree that the recitative looks a little tricky, so far I've only started the aria! It's so moving...*sniff*
