Hi guys, I've recently noticed that my E3 sounds horrible whereas the F3 and D3 are fine. My friend is like that but with F3. Do you think I'm doing something wrong? I've tried squeezing my lips tighter but it kind of makes it squeakier.

I don't know but it's the same thing as my F#3. G3s fine, but Sometimes F#3 doesn't even come out!

Other way for me! I can get a nice tone on E3, F3 and A3 but not G3!

Trevor Wye says that it's due to insufficient air speed "... if in ascending the scale piano E3 orF#3 do not sound then the notes building up to them are the ones to practise...If the air speed is not enough to give security to E3 & F#3 then the air speed is probably insufficient to play the preceding notes with proper intensity of sound.."

Try doing long tones on E3. Sorry can't really suggest much more, but good luck!

OK I'll try that thanks.

also - ask your teacher! she(he) may spot something you're doing that isn't right which may cure the problem, it could be easily fixable - possibly not, but definitely worth checking.

Actually today I told my piano teacher because she can play flute aswell. As I have my flute lesson today aswell she said lets have a look and she noticed that when I go to the very high notes instead of making a "t" sound I was kind of doing a "p" so I tried that but now I cant seem to get it out at all. I need to practise that alot then.

It'll come with time - at least you know what you are aiming for!

Never never never squeeze your lips for higher registers! I do that sometimes and my flute teacher always points it out tongue.gif

it's a matter of more forceful air smile.gif

and just move your lips "up" a little. There shouldnt be much change on the lips.

Oha allright then thank you hopefully it will come in time.
