Obviously not. But its really sad that they still don't know who he is, nobody has missed him and he is so traumatised he doesn't seem to know who he is either. Hopefully he will be identified soon.

i was reading in the paper this morning. Someone has identified the man as a czech guy called tomas (sorry i cant remember the full name) who used to play keyboard in a rock band in the 1980's.

yes I saw that too. The guy said he was absolutely certain it was him - but the authorities say they have more than 200 names and that is just one of them.
I read too that they have now given him an upright piano in his room.

on the news this morning ...
A theory that the so-called Piano Man could be Czech musician Tomas Strnad has been discounted - as Mr Strnad has been interviewed on Czech TV.
Mr Strnad confirmed on screen he was not the mystery character found wandering streets in Kent in April.

It's such a shame that nobody knows who he is. You've got to feel sorry for the poor guy; obviously nobody is close enough (emotionally) to know who he is.

Its been almost 3 weeks since I last heard anything about the mystery piano man. Does anyone know if he has been identified yet? Surely someone must know who he is, or at least someone must have missed him after all this time.

Latest mention of the Piano Man ...
Three months after the virtuoso pianist was found wandering, soaking wet, in Sheerness, Kent, his past still remains a mystery.
The Mirror has the latest theory to explain his silence - his voice box may have been removed.
It quotes staff at Littlebrook Hospital in Dartford who say they are trying to explore the possibility he either has no voice box or his vocal chords were damaged, possibly in an accident at sea which led to his predicament.
One major obstacle is that permission is required before doctors can put a tube down his throat.

That sounds a bit strange.....even if he can't talk you would think he would be able write things down. He is a complete enigma and it is amazing that no-one has been able to identify him still.

Yes I think it sounds a bit odd too - if he doesn't write things down he either won't or can't communicate I guess. I forgot to say I copied the news item from bbc.
Can't help wondering if he wants to be an enigma ??

Intriguing... but he can't be Jukka-Pekka Saraste, his ears are different and he's much younger!
He apparently only seems to draw. He IS good at drawing though. The textures are there. If he doesn't want to be identified, surely he'll still speak? I can't imagine someone who CAN speak remaining silent all this time. He does look lost, the poor man.
But in the meantime, shoudn't someone give him a violin too?

Well precisely, which is why it is a major problem. Either from the patient if he can, but he doesn't seem able to communicate at all, or from his representative (I assume) if he can't, and nobody knows who his next of kin is.
The guy sure is a puzzle.

yes, maybe piano is actually the least of his accomplishments. Perhaps we should give him a tennis racquet and a cricket bat too.
Or perhaps a green pepper, a red tomato, some rather nice wild fresh salmon and half a tin of condensed milk.

I guess someone along the line has been telling porkies - either his playing simply wasn't good to start with but it sounded better and sold the story better so say he was amazing, or now that the mystery is over things like "well actually he can only play one note" or "he was faking it" to eek out the story a bit more...

thanks for the update, chocolatedog! although it replaces one mystery with another. Is Hammerklavier a virtuoso pianist, as his social worker (and Violinia) tell us? or is their any truth in this scurrilous rumour that he plays with one finger? Or are both pieces of information correct - is he playing fantastic concertos with a new "bionic" finger fitted free of charge on the superior German NHS?

It all just comes down to a series of events that could only happen on the 101st blue moon.
First he was walking on a beach in Germany when a freak tide swept him away.
The next day he was washed away onto the shores of Kent.
Shaken and unsure where he was, he began to wonder the beach asking people in german for food. Obviously the people were slightly freaked out by this and a group of chavs heard about this.
Sure enough, the chavs came. these group of chavs where from the tag gang. A notourius group of people who would steal the tag of victims and keep them, showing them off. "Hey look at me, I got a Marks and Spencers tag"
"No, no look at me. I got a nike tag" (You can just imagine them going, "got, got, got, need, got...")
Now shivering from the cold, he was running about when he fell over and banged his head. He fell into a coma and awoke the next day with his memory gone.
It was a stormy night.
ZOOM! there goes the lightning.
ZAP! there goes the piano man.
(This isn't actually going anywhere is it)
Ummm......
Oh yeah, the men in thw white coats finaly come, sent him to hospitol where the sun reporter who was just bashed on the head by a holywood star for taking pics of his new girlfriend was coming out. Intrigued by the sight of this man, who made up a whole load of lies. The daily mirror soon picked on this and hey presto! It's nation wide.
Drawing pianos was just part of the sun reporter so we can forget that.
The piano playing was just the DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAAA of the 5th symphony with the one finger. Obviously, the sun reporter thought "Holy cr*p, look at that performance, this really does go with my piano theory now.
So there you go, my story of the piano man made up on the spot by yours truely.
I don't expect laughter, actually just reading it makes me wince. I'm just getting ready for writing essays and other things for school.
