Over the years I have purched nearly a dozen Arturo Sandoval CDs and while they vary in quality they are all worth listening to just to be amazed by Sandoval's amazing trumpet playing.

A few years ago (probably late 90s) I was lucky enough to see him perform live at the Brecon Jazz Festival. His recordings don't do him justice! In a single concert he played screaming lead trumpet, beautiful lyrical solos, great technical solos, percussion, piano and he even sung!

Two other great players that you might want to look out for who are not as well known as they should be are James Morrison (Australian with a very good web site) and Allen Vizzutti (an American who plays just about every style there is to play - all with his five octave range).
