When I had my piano lessons as a child, for quite a while my lesson-slot was after that of a young girl singer, and I often used to hear her singing this song while I was waiting - I can still hear the tune in my head, although this all took place about 40 years ago!

The poem is called 'Choosing Shoes', and I always loved the words - especially the bit at the end - something along the lines of 'Flat shoes, fat shoes, stump-around-like-that shoes, Wipe-them-on-the-mat shoes, THAT'S the sort they'll buy!'

I've found the poem by doing a Google-search, but I'd really like to get hold of the music for it - does anyone know who wrote the music, or what song-book it might be in?

Don't know if it's the right one, but Boosey & Hawkes have a work by Michael Head for unison chorus and piano called "New Shoes". Couldn't find any details, though.

Cheers
