I've just been asked if I can recommend a learn-by-yourself theory book, preferably including answers, for an adult learner who's in hospital awaiting surgery. He has his laptop with him, so an alternative might be something CD-based. He thinks he may be around G3 standard already.

TIA

I used 'Take 5 - and pass first time.' It was great. All you need to know....

There's one PC CD-ROM which I am using at the moment-- Covers theory from grades 1-5 , and easy to use. Though the style may appeal more to younger learners, I feel that adult learners can also use it. It is titled
" Teaching you Music Theory Skills", published by focus multimedia and it costed about £5, and I purchased it recently from WH SMITH.

I hope this helps
