I'm supposed to be accompanying for some violin & flute exams for the kids' school & this afternoon was told the date - 20th June - unfortunately not at our nearest centre as requested but at a centre 35miles away. Not exactly handy! I then realised that there was now a possibility that my own exam might clash with the accompanying so made some phone calls & found out my date which is the next day - a Tuesday. My piano teacher can't accompany me on a Tuesday (she teaches in school then.) I asked if there was any chance of requesting a change & was told that there were no free slots showing & I will need to ring up in a couple of days to see if anything is available.
Thing is what do I do if there isn't anything in a couple of days - I asked if there was a way of my request being logged so it would show up automatically but apparently not. So do I keep ringing in the hope that I will be on the phone simultaneously with someone else needing to change?! Do I arrange practise with my piano teacher in the hope that it can be changed so she can accompany me? Do I start trying to find someone else (who?? I have no idea) And what if it can be changed but to something at very short notice & I haven't practised with anyone because I don't know who to practise with!
Any soothing words of wisdom would be very welcome

I had to change one of my pupils exams last session as she was on a school trip. The board were so helpful - they gave me over 10 different times to choose from, and even when we were there there was no one after us as they had a cancellation.

I can't offer any words of comfort, I've only ever entered one person for an exam - and that was me - and they gave me a convenient time... I can only offer sympathy and I REALLY hope you manage to get it sorted soon. Have you explained to them about the situation with your teacher? It seems crazy that they give you NO options...

Thanks for the support. I'll try ringing tomorrow - let's face it if they don't come up with anything then I'll be on the phone every day for the next 4 weeks!

Maybe if you badger them enough they'll give you a new time just to make you go away & leave them alone! Got to be worth a try...

Oh dear, that sounds like a terrible muddle! I REALLY hope you sort it out soon! Keep on ringing them and explain (if you haven't done so already) why you're badgering them so much and maybe they will see how desperate you are!!!

I had to change the time for my last exam (it was still the same day, though) because I had to travel to the exam centre by train, and they shifted some other people around because I had a really good reason. So maybe if you convince them of how important it is that they change it...
