Hi,
I'm on Grade 5 violin and I'm working on the exam pieces, but I'm finding them really boring because I'm doing the same pieces all the time. The songs are quite slow and I want to do something different. Does anyone know any books with really lively music that's fun to play?
Thanks,
Jade.

Try Technique Takes Off by Mary Cohen...the pieces are lively, and excellent for technique! The 1st one in the book is called 'Prelude' and is a grade 5 alternative piece for the C section - it's a great little piece!

Hi Jade
have you seen the excellent books edited by Edward Huws Jones? They include
Jigs, Reels and Hornpipes
The Klezmer Violinist -
Sevdah (wonderful Eastern European music)
The Gypsy Fiddler
they are full of all kinds of wonderful lively music and are terrific value for money I think as you get the violin part plus piano also an easy violin duet part and a hard violin accompaniment part for each piece. There are some lovely slow pieces included too of course, all with a very different feel to them to the standard violin repertoire.
