On the first couple of days when I registered, I started using the Students Forum for piano stuff (because I am a pianist), until I realised there was a piano forum that we could use!
Lisa87
I didn't even realise there was a piano forum so that's my excuse! I've been using the link from the students page to get to this forum so didn't know there was other forums to use, sorry!

I took me ages to discover there was a separate piano forum - perhaps people just don't know where it is?

I think that's one of the things that needs to be sorted when they renovate the site. Players should be told when they join that there are other forums where more specific posts can be made.

i didnt know there was a piano forum until a few days ago either so i had posted piano stuff here, but now i know... tongue.gif

Well, as they say, "If you don't like it, you know what you can do"!!!! What are we supposed to talk about? How many body piercings we have? The price of baked beans? I thought that this was a music forum, and maybe pianists have the majority round here ( don't we live in a democracy?????).......
Hysterical_Pianist
I'm not sure but maybe a lot of general chat people are actually pianists so they tend to sidetrack onto piano subjects, and quite a lot too.

But in the student's forum I think we should talk about things that are relates to all musicians; not just piano players. The whole world of music does not revolve around pianos. There are plenty of topics that can relate to everyone. E.g; how often do you practise? or What is everyone's favourite musical era?. Non-pianists shouldn't have to come onto a site that is bogged down with piano specific topics, especially since clarinettists and violinists usually keep instrument specific topics to their more specific sites.

Yes this is a music forum, 10 points for observation there. Talk about the price of baked beans all you like, that's why we now have a Forums Cafe, for people like you who feel the need to talk about perhaps the only exciting thing in thier life.

But incase you hadn't noticed this is a Student's forum, which means threads should usually concern Student topics, like help on music terms, theory, general questions about music. Not "What Piano Pieces are you doing for grade ##?", I apologise to members who were unaware that there was a Piano Forum, but to the others, please use it, that's what it's there for.

I agree with Hulk. But if clarinettists managed to find Viva Clarinet when they were newbies, why can't pianists find it?

I agree it's a students forum, and am not a culprit of posting piano topics in any other forum, but agree that it's annoying. Let's just drop it though. people are only human or if they're the sort of people who do it to "troll" people (my new word!), or attention seeking then they'll do it anyway. Nothing you can say will stop them, only encourage them to do it more. (Before anyone says anything, I am not implying that everyone who posts topics in inappropriate forums are attention seeking or trolls!)

It's perhaps not a case of not being able to find the right forum, maybe they think they are students and would prefer to talk to other students opposed to adults about piano related topics. It then becomes difficult as to where you draw the line under student related topics and piano related topics.

People who do post piano topics in the student forum, and have read this post, please take into consideration what Hulk and others have said.

Tolerance and consideration works both ways though.

But it's not just adults on the more specific forums. I go one them and I'm not an adult.

P.S I'm really sorry if I've offended anyone, it's just that it really annoys me. I'm not complaining at the people in particular, just the fact that the posts are there and it would be appreciated if pianists could keep specific posts to their forums.

So... student pianist beware...

I know they do, but how often do you see posts like "what pieces are you playing" concerning clarinet, or trumpet or flute etc. I know they go both ways but more often that not it's a piano related topic.
