I've just today gone on study leave for my A Levels, and will return to education in late September when I start University. I finished my singing lessons a couple of weeks ago (due to a cold/sore throat that hung around, and school exams this week) and won't be having lessons regularly until late September.
Has anyone got any advice to keep me going over the long summer months?

Is there a summer school/course of some kind you could take part in?
Good luck with your A levels...

Hello!
Could you have a couple of lessons with your teacher over the summer just to keep you in check?? If not, give her a ring and ask her what she recommends you do in the way of technique/excersises etc and get her to write you a list of reportoire to learn over the holidays..or simply write down any songs you want to learn and learn them by yourself before you go to uni..
I hope this is helpful to you... this is what I always used to do to keep busy over the holidays. But I found that the first thing to go is breathing if you don't keep it up, so try not to let things slide too much! It's always a pain when you have to get yourself back into shape after lots of hard work!
Good luck with the exams!

I found its quite difficult to find a focus post grade 8. You need to pester your singing teacher and get him/her to advise you what to learn next. If he/she will teach you too that's a bonus. I found I really needed a goal after the last exam - it was a real sense of anti-climax.
Above all don't stop singing! Learn all the arias in "Messiah" for instance - they're a real challenge and certainly kept me going post Grade 8 and leading up to diploma. Set yourself a goal and go for it.
Hope this helps you get over the sense of anti-climax....!
