Yes...I wish I didn't have to be the one to decide though. I mean, what if he is just getting old? And then there's the fact that he's
'only a rabbit, so why am I so bothered?!'
This isn't getting me anywhere. I'm going to find something constructive to do!
Like go to the vet. If hamish has an infection the vet will be able to make him better. If Hamish is in pain the vet will be able to make him feel more comfortable. I know someone who's Yorkshire terrier had cancer for months and due to good palliative care had a good quality of life right up to the end. The vet is not the ternimator the vet wants to make animals better.
We are ALL bothered about those we love, Miss Ross - whether it be a person, dog, cat, rabbit, stick insect...and you MUST take your dear Hamish to the vet straight away - please.

Its a fact of life like the SORN declaration I've got to fill in aout my car at the end of the month. If I had Sarah-flute's number I'd ring her myself but I don't. In fact I emailed her earlier offering her the option of ringing if typing emails was too draining.
And yes if you're under 25 car insurance is a rip off.

Unless I'm fit to drive by the end of November my car will have a Statutory Off Road Notice SORN for short until I'm able to drive again. Then by handing in my Log book and insurance details as a soon as I an drive again, I'll be able to tax it.
It works like that.
Still weepy. I think too many things are going on at once, and its coming out in tears.

Nov 15 2007, 09:09 PM
Oddball, have you considered taking a 'Pass Plus' course? I'm not sure if it's available where you are, but just by taking the course you can greatly reduce your car insurance (with certain companies) and some local councils will help towards the fees. Just a thought

How does it affect employment prospects unless you are looking for a driving job?
It would make possible workplaces subject to availability of public transport ...... what else?

If companies are looking for management trainees having a clean full driving licence is almost essential. Likewise for any job where there's likely to be any face to face client contact. The day of the company car may be dying, but the need for trainee's to drive is still alive and kicking.
sbhoa
Nov 15 2007, 09:16 PM
If that's true then there is something seriously wrong in people being expected to learn to drive if they don't want to or need to.
Unless it's necessary for the job is this really the case?
What happened to protecting the environment?

They can't do that, unless there is a specific requirement for driving as part of the job. To discriminate against people without a driving licence would mean discriminating against e.g. people who can't drive because their eyesight isn't good enough (such as my brother) which would contravene employment law. I know that there is no requirement for any of our trainees to have a driving licence of any kind, despite a company car allowance being part of the overall benefits package.
